Australia-listed juniors Sun Silver and James Bay Minerals on Monday announced key board and management appointments as both companies position themselves for their next phase of growth.

Sun Silver, which is advancing the Maverick Springs silver and gold project in Nevada, in the US, appointed co-founder and major shareholder Andrew Dornan as MD.

Dornan, who has played a key role in shaping Sun Silver’s strategy, has extensive experience in leading mining projects from exploration through to operations. He has held senior roles at James Bay Minerals, Newmont, Rio Tinto, Fortescue, Pilbara Minerals, and Tianqi Lithium. His expertise will be instrumental as Sun Silver seeks to capitalise on the growing demand for silver in industrial applications.

In conjunction with Dornan’s appointment, corporate lawyer Shaun Hardcastle has been named nonexecutive chairperson.

Meanwhile, Dean Ercegovic will transition to a nonexecutive director role, providing ongoing strategic oversight, and Gerard O’Donovan will step down from his role as executive director.

At James Bay, Dornan will transition to the role of executive chairperson as the company advances its Independence gold project, also in Nevada. Matthew Hayes, a founding director and major shareholder of James Bay, has been appointed as executive director. Hayes played a critical role in the company’s initial public offering (IPO) and the acquisition of the Independence gold project. He also previously co-founded Sun Silver and led its IPO.

Further strengthening its leadership, James Bay Minerals has appointed Jay Ward as exploration manager. Ward, an experienced geologist, has played key roles in exploration and resource development at Capricorn Metals and Strickland Metals. Further, Keith Wood, former chief growth geologist at Nevada Gold Mines’ Phoenix mine, joins as a strategic adviser, bringing 15 years of experience in the Nevada gold sector.
